I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the BPS and HCPC (British Psychological Society and Health Care Professions Council). I am also a psychotherapist accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I draw on a range of psychological theory and approaches, including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) – in order to adapt to the particular needs of the person and our collaboratively devised treatment plan.
I view the relationship as a cornerstone in therapeutic work, and my first aim is to establish a safe, compassionate place from where sensitive issues can be explored in a collaborative way. My aim is to help the client to increase self-awareness with regards to unhelpful patterns and beliefs, strengthening existing resources and developing new skills – to enable the client to make new choices. My ultimate aim is to help the client to enhance their adaptability, and to increase their emotional well-being and potential in life.
I have extensive experience of working in mental health and addiction services in the NHS and statutory sector – where I have gained experience of working with clients presenting with a wide range of issues, including low mood and anxiety-related problems, identity and interpersonal issues, addictions, and complex trauma. I have a specific interest in trauma work, for which I use EMDR.
In summary, there are the issues I can offer help with:
Insurances I work with: AXA, Aviva, Vitality, CIGNA, Simply Health, WPA and others.
