Please meet our team
Hello, my name is Andrew and I’m a professionally trained Counselling Psychologist who is accredited with the Health and Care Professionals Council. I have several years of counselling/psychotherapy experience in a variety of settings, this includes NHS primary care, various charitable organisations, and working in schools with young children who are struggling. Regarding adult clients who I have seen, I have worked with people with several problems including work-related stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue or relationship problems. I’ve also worked with people long-term who struggled with more severe problems including trauma, suicide, sexual abuse, chronic mood problems, issues with gender and sexuality, and others. Those of us who have experienced any of these kinds of issues (or others) find ourselves in unique circumstances, with unique problems, and therefore need unique solutions.
My approach has developed over many years through my training and a range of experiences of delivering successful therapy. The type of therapy I offer, Integrative Therapy, involves a closer appreciation to how your current way of living is affecting you now where the focus of our sessions will be on gaining self-awareness. I draw on a range of different approaches which informs my practice. I primarily embrace the humanistic approach including Gestalt and Person-centred modalities – these emphasise personal responsibility and helping individuals to reach their potential as a living, experiencing organism. I am also skilled in drawing on other orientations to therapy including psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural approaches. I feel that this makes me particularly capable in understanding the perspectives of others through many different lenses, tailoring a unique solution to fit your own needs and circumstances.
