Depression is one of the most common psychological difficulties affecting around one in five people. It is characterised by a range of symptoms, including low mood, hopelessness, lack of motivation, poor sleep, loss of interest and low energy levels. Many people who experience depression also experience anxiety.
People can experience the above symptoms to varying degrees and they can last for a short time or they may persist over a long period. People may have a single episode of depression or it can be recurrent, meaning people experience several episodes of depression over time.
Treatment for Depression
Therapy for depression can involve working together with your therapist to understand what factors have contributed to the development of depression for you. Your therapist can also work with you to explore the vicious cycles you may be currently experiencing and help you find ways to break out of these cycles.
