Dr Soha Daru is a highly experienced Counsellor and Psychologist with over 15 years’ work experience counselling online and face-to-face in mental health centres and the NHS. Her specialisms are counselling for low mood, depression, anxiety/generalised anxiety/social anxiety, trauma, abuse, work-related problems, grief/bereavement, relationship issues, self-esteem and chronic health issues. She helps people get to a place where they feel less stuck, more content and empowered in their lives. Soha has an in-depth understanding of how early childhood experiences impact us and how we subconsciously create unhelpful patterns in the present.
Soha is trained in Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt therapy, Transactional analysis, Psychodynamic therapy and Mindfulness. She also offers life coaching for various issues and has a unique approach where she combines her training and experience in counselling and psychotherapy and offers this alongside a coaching model for those who are interested in this pathway.
Soha offers both structured and exploratory therapeutic approaches, tailor-made to suit peoples’ needs. She offers life coaching, uniquely combining this with therapy. Soha is described by her clients as a warm, empathic and highly effective therapist. Soha believes in working alongside people to help them achieve their full potential, as the answers are already within us. She offers a collaborative approach and recognises that we are all unique in our experiences, cultural backgrounds and upbringing. We might be influenced by past experiences, but we have a choice in how we respond to the present and the challenges life might bring. Her approach is tailor-made to suit individuals’ current needs; she aims to empower people and support them with where they want to get to at the end of therapy.
Soha is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and works as a Psychologist in a clinical health setting at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Additionally, she works as a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leeds, training students to become qualified counsellors. Soha is described by her clients as a warm, empathic and highly effective therapist. She works with adults aged 20 years and over and offers both short-term and longer-term counselling based on the need. She currently offers online and telephone counselling.
