Please meet our team
My name is Manuela, and I am a BABCP fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural therapist.
I have worked as a therapist in the NHS for years and had the privilege of studying with the most prominent figures in the field of CBT research. I am experienced in treating anxiety, depression and trauma effectively, with a particular focus on the context of pain and Long-Term Conditions, for which I have received specialised training.
I have worked with people who struggle with depression; who have experienced domestic violence or abuse; who can’t get rid of their worries; who have been through trauma; who are concerned about their appearance and/or how they come across to others; who constantly worry about their health; who struggle with intrusive thoughts and compulsions; who experience panic attacks; who have phobias; who are unhappy about their work/life balance; who feel stuck with where their life is going; who feel unable to cope; who struggle thinking positively of themselves; who have unhealthy habits they want to get rid of, including eating habits.
I will help you explore the unhelpful beliefs that keep the problem going, and then help you find a more helpful way of thinking about the situation, put things in perspective, or see yourself in a more positive light. I am trained in Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy. These techniques are very effective in the treatment of anxiety, depression and low confidence. On one side, they can help you manage difficult emotions and stressful situations; on the other hand, looking at your story with compassionate eyes can help reduce feelings of blame, shame and self-criticism.
I also practice EMDR, which is a very effective technique to process traumatic memories and move on from difficult events.
I am bilingual in Italian and English and having lived in both the UK and Italy for many years, I understand the struggles of living far from home.
I am committed to creating a space where you feel able to speak freely about what troubles you.
I won’t tell you what to do, but I will support you overcome the issue by using your strengths.
