They are registered with several professional bodies, including the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the British Psychological Society (BPS), as well as, BACP, UKCP and BABCP. Please meet our team
I am an HCPC registered Chartered Clinical Psychologist and have also been a member of the British Psychological Society since 1996. In addition, I am a member of the UK EMDR Association.
I have worked for over 23 years as a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist for the NHS in some senior positions and am now in private practice working online since covid-19. My experience of adult and older adult mental health difficulties is broad, treating clients experiencing anxiety including phobias and health anxiety. I have also extensive experience with OCD, depression, low self-esteem and confidence. In addition, I have worked with complex grief, single and complex trauma, career and work stress, workplace grievance issues and problems related to those involved in professional misconduct. I have also experience in working with healthcare professionals experiencing burnout and clients with ADHD and/or ASD with co-morbid mental health issues.
I have worked on an individual and group basis. I have been involved in healthcare training at University level and quality improvement at a service and Government level and have managed multi-disciplinary dementia challenging behaviour services and adult psychological therapies services. I have supervised trainee Clinical Psychologists as well as newly qualified psychologists over many years. I have lectured at University level. I currently use CBT, ACT, Compassion-focussed therapy, Emotion regulation techniques, EMDR, and Trauma focussed CBT. In addition, I use Mindfulness and a Solution-focussed, problem solving approach. I adopt an integrative approach, as everyone is unique and it is important to draw from a range of techniques to identify what is going to be most helpful, after getting a better understanding of you, your needs and goals.
My clinical philosophy is that we are all only human and life can be tough to navigate. At times, we will all feel under par emotionally and if this goes on for a while, it can impact our relationships, work and other aspects of our lives. Stress can come out of the blue and we need to become more mindful of our needs, compassionate towards ourselves and ideally develop a toolkit of coping strategies to use in the future to increase resilience. Please reach out if this resonates. I am very much looking forward to working collaboratively with you and to helping you move forward. My job is my privilege.
