Please meet our team
I have worked in mental health since completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2008, and I have worked as a chartered Clinical Psychologist since 2013. As well as working with Therapy Central I also hold a Team Lead position in the NHS for an adolescent DBT service. In my experience so far I have worked with individuals across the life span with a variety of difficulties, within various settings, including community settings, sexual health clinics and inpatient settings.
I have experience in working with a variety of mental health difficulties, including depression, various types of anxiety (including social anxiety, OCD and trauma/PTSD), emotion regulation difficulties (specifically experiencing intense emotions, such as shame, guilt, or anger), as well as other difficulties that can arise in life, such as relationship difficulties, bereavement and self-harm.
My main therapeutic orientations are Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); I have also completed my training as an MBT (Mentalisation-based treatment) practitioner and EMDR (Eye movement and Desensitisation Reprocessing) practitioner, as well as gaining experience in working systemically with couples and families. As a result I am able to draw on a range of therapeutic models to select the one that is best suited to help the person I am working with acheive their goals for therapy.
As a practitioner I value the importance of offering therapies that are evidence-based and proven to help address the difficulties the person is bringing to therapy, as well as also valuing the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a tool in faciltiating change and progress in therapy. I believe these are both vital in helping a person get to where they want to be and to get the most out of therapy.
